Ethnographic Figures & Artifacts Digital Archive of Historic Abyssinia

This digital collection brings together thirty restored illustrations documenting people, clothing, tools, architecture, musical instruments, weapons, vessels, ceremonial objects, and everyday material culture associated with historic Abyssinia and the Horn of Africa. Derived from steel engravings published in 1924 by Tancredi Arcellazzi for the Piccolo Lexikon Vallardi Encyclopédia, the archive presents a varied visual record of regional communities, social identities, craftsmanship, transport, domestic life, and religious traditions.
